Hurricane Izzy starts innocently enough as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa. She quickly gains strength and speed as she fights her way across the Atlantic on a direct path to North Carolina's Outer Banks. It is also a story of man losing his dog and girl prior to the storm. It is a story of community coming together and making friends in the face of severe conditions. While Hurricane Izzy is fictional, she is a compilation of a couple of different storms I have ridden out while living on the Outer Banks.
